T1 1966-79 Beetle / Ghia Ball Joint TE Fully Built Beam (Front axel), Assembled
Aircooled VW Beetle and Ghia Ball Joint 4 Inch Narrowed Beams, the industry standard in quality
Titan Engineering T1 Ball Joint Beetle Beam 4″ narrowed, installation is simple and easy with no body modifications. Styck beam is built by robots in the UK and fettled to spec by hand. Limebug is the leading supplier of narrowed beams in the industry.

Styck beam is produced from CDS (Cold Drawn Steel) Seamless tubing, then turned to length, Styck adjuster slot is then milled into the tubing along with the 4x grease points. Next we fit our custom Xero adjusters in place which give over 7.5″ of adjustment travel. These adjusters are set in place in such a way as to achieve maximum drop and still give a great range of upper adjustment on nearly all configurations.

Next we laser cut 8mm steel into our beautifully designed end plates, these are then CNC press braked to form a dog leg which will clear all factory inner wings on your new 4″ beam with no cutting, welding or drilling. Now we fit a turned 12×1.5mm solid threaded boss into the upper shock tower. Our shock towers are oversize in length to allow you to run your stock shocks for mild lowering and our gas charged shocks for the extra low Beetle / Ghia owners.

For the final step in the metal core assembly process, we precision load the components into the robot welding cell, at this point we fit our ramped base ’uprights’ which have oversize holes for simple easy installation on all frame heads.

Now the core is built we install our uniquely designed grease cavity / Delrin bushings system. This configuration allows the use of Delrin bushes which have great low wearing properties and will not damage your trailing arms over time, they also do not squeak like Urethane. Finally this also allows you to run factory grease seals keeping your grease in the beam, where it should be.

So that’s how the industry standard of narrowed front axel is made and some of the fantastic features it offers. All beams have the option to a powder coated finish, RHD / LHD, torsion leaves, track rods etc etc. Let Limebug cut out the guesswork and have a hassle free install.

Options
Titan Engineering ”Sawtooth” Skid Plates
Features a steep ramped front edge to deflect the road and debris away from your beam when running extra low. Protects your adjuster unit as well as still allowing adjustability through the access hole.

Sawtooth plates are provided raw unless otherwise stated. Comes with two extended frame head bolts and washers which is all that is required for fitting.

Will fit all Ball Joint and K&L Pin Beams, hole is slotted to allow you to bring the plate up flush to the base of your frame head.

EX beams irradiate all the guesswork, mistakes and oversights, some examples of features of EX series beams are as follows:

Dropped Spindles:

A modification that became very popular in recent years, dropped spindles insure trailing arm angle is resolved as appose to traditional methods of just fitting adjusters and dropping the vehicle. Dropped spindles achieve a ”body drop” style of lowering maintaining all original suspension mounts and fixings.

Long Travel Ball Joints

Applicable to Ball Joint (67 onwards UK Models). Ball Joints can ”max out” when under excessive lowering or when run in conjunction with air ride. Long periods of excessive force can cause a fracture or total failure of a ball joint. Long Travel ball joints minimize this by utilizing additional clearancing.

Derlin Bushings

Derlin has become ”The Material of Choice” for most premium beams on the market now, due to its low wear property and High strength they are the perfect replacement for traditional bearings within the beam. The main cause for trailing arms getting excessive play is due to wear in failed bearing which unfortunately eats trailing arms for breakfast. Not with Derlins!

Grease Cavity

Grease packing is an essential part to longevity of a beams life. EX-Series Beams feature a unique cavity system which allows 100% of the beam to be packed and insure no swarf or wear will occur in the first runs out on your brand new beam.

Gas Charged Shocks

We offer a wide range of shocks which can be fitted to our beams, but nearly all you will find are gas charged, this is primarily due to the nature of a lowered vehicle, gas will resist compression, whereas oil only dampens, utilizing this characteristic means a smooth low ride that will not see you scrubbing that shiny paint on your arches, and give a more more responsive and solid feel.

OE Torsion Leaves, re-dimpled the right way
A bone of contention for us has always been poor re-dimpling on beams, this has cause no end of trailing arms falling off, or lop-sided ride height and angle. We use a bespoke tool to give exact narrowing dimensions and the dimple is to the correct depth/ angle and chamfer to match the original.

Adjusters
Adjusters used on these beams are hand machined again, and feature the adjustment slot built into the beam itself to give a beautiful and strong finish. The adjusters are set to angle to work in conjunction with the dropped spindles, these paired will allow you to practically hit the deck at full drop, but will allow you to wind it up for those winter wheels and insure the vehicle is still useable in all terrains.

Zinc Base Coat
An option on EX-1 series, loaded as standard on EX-2 and EX-2+ beams, zinc etching is a process carried out in industrial processes insuring a sacrificial layer of zinc directly mated to the corrodable surface of the beam. This is essential to any poor weather countries where snow, rain and salt are a frequent occurrence.

UV Coating
It seems odd to be talking about UV Proof clear coats on something which resides underneath a car, however UV light no matter how weak destroys powder, paint and pretty much anything shiny over a long period, the clear coat is again applied as standard to all EX-2 and EX-2+ beams.

Narrowing
Most customers are looking for that narrow low look, narrowed beams hold a minefield of issues not just the immediate issues of narrowed tie rods, leaves but they also cause issues with steering, we fit custom made pre-narrowed tie rods, use all German ends which feature double locking ends. We also offer an option to fit an OE style steering stop which works great to stop tyre scrubbing on lowered and narrowed vehicles. Also we work the stops in conjunction with our air ride systems which ensure now track fouling to the frame head.

Shocks Relocated
Essential on K&L (Pre 67) T1 application vehicles, these move the shock towers on the top back, and the lower mounts back, reducing air pressure on air ride systems and provide more stability on Torsion Bar systems. A really worthwhile modification, again fitted as standard on EX-2+ K&L Beams
